Pilton House residential home (in Barnstaple) has been using Familynet since 2017 and was the very first care home in the United Kingdom, to use Familynet. Michael Ash, Deputy manager, shares his experiences:
“We are very proud to say that we are the first care home in the UK to use this platform. As a home we have found that Familynet has been an incredible platform for our staff to stay in touch with the families of our residents. As well as the site itself being extremely user friendly and appealing to the eye.
When we first started using the service, approximately 35% of our residents had a personal page on Familynet. Many with family overseas, or unable to visit regularly. It has been an excellent way for staff at Pilton House to Share “magic moments” to family members, letting them know their loved one is well, happy, and cared for.
Our staff have found the interface easy to use and seamless. They enjoy taking photos and selfies with residents to share on Familynet.
We saw a rise in the usage of Familynet during the last year and a half due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Both Pilton House and our resident’s family members have found the service absolutely invaluable when communicating with each other. Now over 65% of residents have a personal page on Familynet.
I have nothing but praise for Familynet. From the platform itself, its simplicity, and the amazing, friendly, and incredible team that have built it. Whilst we are very proud to be the first care home in the UK to use Familynet. We would love to see every care home in the world using Familynet, as it does truly bring staff, residents and their families together to share ‘magic moments’.”
